What is her third strategy? How do these three strategies take the students from being introduced to new terminology to using the vocabulary words accurately in the class discussion? Can this technique be used in other areas?

Her third strategy was having a vocabulary type discussion with the class over the guided reading. When she led this discussion, she asked questions over the reading, while including the vocabulary words and definitions. She began by introducing the words by placing them at the front of the room, this way student knew what words to look out for. She then proceeded to have them work in groups to read and analyze the material. When it was time for the discussion, she would ask questions that would prompt the students understanding of both the words and the material. This technique of teaching can be used in any coursework with both vocabulary words and topics. By introducing the students to the topic and explaining what they need to look out for, followed by group work and discussion, students understanding will improve.
